hello friend!
My name is Bekah (short for Rebekah) I am 29 years young, I have two toddler boys, Luke (three years old) and Clayton (will be two in May). They are both full of energy, laughs, body slams, hugs & kisses. I am married to the sexiest man on the planet- his name is Jordan and he owns and operates a remodeling company in Small Town, Texas where we reside.
We will have lived in this small town for nine years, this July. We both grew up in Colorado Springs, CO. But made a big decision to move to a small town after one year of marriage. It has been the BEST thing for us! I’m not going to lie, it was an adjustment… Like a three to five year adjustment, and I still have days where I miss my mountains and snow. But let me tell you, God has forced me out of my comforts in so many ways here that I’m thankful we moved and can’t wait to share with y’all (I can say that now that I’m a Texan) all the ways God has worked in my life through pain, suffering, stillness, etc… ok I will save that for a later time… But anyway, thank you for being here and if you made it this far I should send you something!
I am a lover of all things DIY and Home Decorating. I grew up with a Dad who built things and loved to come up with cool ideas for our home; his willingness to do things himself rubbed off on me. Since then, I’ve been addicted. In High School I rearranged, re-designed and repainted my room often. I loved going to flea markets and antique stores just to browse and come up with different purposes for old items. My first DIY project was inspired by a glass ball chandelier I saw at Anthropologie. I ended up giving it to my sister (God bless her) when I moved out of my parents house. I wish I had a picture of it. I used clear glass ornament balls, puff paint, fishing line, a lampshade frame… I was proud of my work and that’s before I had Instagram and Pinterest to tell me just how hideous it actually was. After High School I enrolled in the interior design program at my local community college. I learned a lot and realized quickly just how much I loved interiors. When we moved to this small town I started working for our local newspaper doing graphic design. I kept putting off going back to school because I felt like I couldn’t even use the degree and experience living in this small town. It’s been almost nine years and four job changes, now I’m finally pursuing the one dream I have always pushed to the back burner.
Which brings me to my next point.. I want this blog to inspire you to create your own works of art and to pursue those back-burner dreams . I want you to feel empowered to do things yourself. I want to remind you to quit the comparison game and do YOU. Does anyone remember what life was like before Pinterest or Instagram? I got my inspiration outside the walls of my home and when I made something and liked what I created, I WAS PROUD. I did it for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying said platforms are bad, I love them! But I have experienced first hand just how discouraging it can be if you let it. So I’m here to remind you and myself to stop putting our worth in the likes and comments and to just enjoy what you’ve done.& I don’t want you to be afraid of trying new things even if you think they won’t turn out perfect. After all, you can’t learn from mistakes if you never let yourself make them.
Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to get to know me! Really! I’d love to hear from you and get to know you! Leave a comment below with your name and a little about you!
Love y’all,
