Living room progress!!! 🤗

I have some “sad” news.... my $25 Craigslist gold mirror is shattered.
I was trying to hang it up and had just finished explaining to Luke and Clay that they cannot step on the mirror as it was laying on the ground because it could break the glass 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
Then I, as in ME, BEKAH: stepped off the ladder too far out and landed on the frame. I could hear the glass break and felt my stomach turn. Luke said “uh oh Momma. It’s ok, sometimes it happens”..... I love you Luke.
Oh well. It happens and thank goodness I’m only out $25. I haven’t looked into replacing the glass yet because part of me wants to figure out something creative to do over my mantle now that I don’t have it. 🤔 I’ll let keep you posted.

You know when you wash a water bottle how it gets

You know when you wash a water bottle how it gets all filled with bubbles? How do you get them out? You can’t just dump them out? No, the only way you are getting those bubbles out is by running the water into the bottle until it overflows so that water pushes all the bubbles out. If you are confused right now I’m a little impressed or grossed out by the fact you’ve never washed a water bottle. Try it, you’ll understand.

Some days, weeks and months I let myself get overwhelmed by all the things I think I need to fix about myself, my heart more specifically. Like is there a 10 step, self-help fix for healing deep pain from your past, or even just something to get me past insecurity? I’d even just be happy to find something to get me to a place of consistent contentment or how about (fill in yours here)?
While I’m sure you can find a self-help book on any of those subjects, can they really heal (fill in the blank)? Nope. Not really. Those struggles always tend to stick in you like the bubbles in the water bottle.

But don’t worry, don’t get frustrated! Take a deep breath and count to four. Have I got a solution for you! You ready?

Let God fill you with His goodness (which includes but is not limited to: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, grace, mercy...)

What does it look like in real life? I’m no expert in this, but I think it looks like: reading His word, praying for those things in your life and being watchful of those things happening, and continuing those actions/ thoughts DAILY. Keeping your eye on the prize.

I know I tend to be overwhelmed by those things when I haven’t been doing any or all of the things listed above. When I take my eye off the prize (God and His promises) I think I’m the one to have to fix all the things. Trying to fix yourself is like you trying to dump the bubbles out, it’s not the most effective. Let HIS goodness overflow from your heart so there’s no room for, in my case, those discontentment bubbles and the unforgiving bubbles to stick.

Sitting on my porch dreaming I’m actually at a Parisian café... I’m most assuredly a dreamer.

I love to put myself in different times, places and lifestyles.

When I was younger, I would dream about being an amazing singer. I would practice my pivotal performance in the shower. My song of choice: The Star-Spangled Banner. I wanted to shock the nation with my miraculous vocal cords. I wanted my parents to talk in interviews about how I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket but then one day, they heard me practicing in the shower and they couldn’t believe their ears.... that’s not the only one, I have quite a few more embarrassing dreams to reality stories: there’s the one where I thought I could be a dancer, gymnast, figure skater, oh goodness the list just goes on 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
Even though that dreamer was an embarrassment to the preforming arts community at least she wasn’t afraid of acting on her dreams; it’s how she learned... Come to think of it she probably should have had some tests run.😂😅😑

But back to my point, I love to dream,
Although, I can let my dreaming get a little out of hand (see professional anthem singer, dancer, gymnast, etc...) and I can also waste my life dreaming and never doing, which, I tend to do more often now that I’m older and have children. So, I writing this because I’m looking for a lesson from God. Maybe it’s that it’s ok to dream but get out and act. Maybe it’s that I don’t have to act on every dream but listening for the cue from God to go for that right one. Actually I just answered it, it’s all of the above.

Ok does any of what I just babbled about make sense? 😅

Cracks

Dear childless Momma,
You are loved. I’m crying just thinking of you and your pain. I understand your pain. I want to hug you and cry with you...
What sometimes feels like a long time ago, I was where you are now, on my bathroom floor, crying and begging God to give me the baby I so longed for. I remember prayers to the tune of “God, I promise I will take care of this child, I promise I will raise this baby to know and love you. I promise I will try my best and trust in you. God, I’m begging you, give me this child. I need this child.” And asking Him questions like “what did I do to deserve this pain? Why do I have to suffer for this? Have I not been through enough pain in my life?” I was revealing the cracks in my faith to myself.
“What did I do to deserve this?” - A crack
“Have I not suffered enough?” - Another crack
“If you give me a child I promise I will take care of him and teach him love and show him love.” - A gigantic crack. Ouch.
After four miscarriages and three plus years of crying to God, I was transformed into a person I didn’t know I needed to be. God used my pain to show me where I was weakest. He made me stronger with each miscarriage and prayer of sorrow and anger. He asked me to rely on Him SOLELY and to die to myself, pick up my cross daily and follow him.
Heartbroken Momma, your pain is valid. My advice is this: let this painful experience tear you down, so God can build you up.

I’m thankful everyday for my two rainbow babies. I’m letting them show me my cracks so God can fill them and make me stronger.

What’s a popular kitchen trend you are tired of?
On the flippity-flip: what’s a kitchen trend you are loving?
I roll my eyes when I see flowers in the sink.... 🙄
Just kidding, I love that. Peep my wal-mart florals balancing over a sink full of dirty dishes 😅...

I don’t like the “trend” of setting an oil painting along the kitchen backsplash. Like, that’s going to get spaghetti sauce on it, I hope you don’t like it that much and didn’t pay a lot for it. Ok, I really actually love that too, it just makes me nervous.

A trend I really really love and I think it’s more than a trend. But kitchens that are decorated with the stuff that’s actually used everyday: like cutting boards, utensils, bowls, etc. I love décor that’s purposeful, not just pretty/ ornamental.
